2 Thessalonians
Chapter 1
- 1
Paul and Silvanus and Timothy, to the church of the Thessalonians in God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ:
- 2
grace be to you and peace from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ. Their Faith and Constancy
- 3
We are bound to give thanks to God always for you, brethren. It is fitting that we should, because your faith grows exceedingly and your charity each one for the other increases.
- 4
And because of this we ourselves boast of you in the churches of God for your patience and faith in all your persecutions and the tribulations that you are enduring.
- 5
In this there is a proof of the just judgment of God counting you worthy of the kingdom of God, for which also you suffer.
- 6
Indeed it is just on the part of God to repay with affliction those who afflict you,
- 7
and to give you who are afflicted rest with us at the revelation of the Lord Jesus, who will come from heaven with the angels of his power,
- 8
in flaming fire, to inflict punishment on those who do not know God, and who do not obey the gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ.
- 9
These will be punished with eternal ruin, away from the face of the Lord and the glory of his power,
- 10
when on that day he shall come to be glorified in his saints, and to be marvelled at in all those who have believed. For our testimony before you has been believed. Prayer for Their Glorification
- 11
To this end also we pray always for you, that our God may make you worthy of his calling, and may fulfill with power every good purpose and work of faith,
- 12
that the name of our Lord Jesus Christ may be glorified in you, and you in him, according to the grace of our God and the Lord Jesus Christ.
